"MENTORING A CATALYST FOR CHANGE"
The
above was the topic of a recent workshop held by AfriGrowth
Foundation in Abuja. The event organized for young people between
the ages of 18-30 years was to involve more youths in the mentoring
thought process, encourage attitudinal change among youths and to
inculcate leadership skills amongst young people through mentoring.
Speaking at the event Mrs. Dayo Keshi AfriGrowth Foundations'
President advocated for youth mentoring as" it helps in value
re-orientation" and called on young people to continue to look for
opportunities to get developed through mentoring.
While sharing his mentoring experience with participants at the
seminar Folorunsho Adekugbe an AfriGrowth mentee noted "Mentoring
influenced me, it gave me a right course, Mentoring filled my
performance Gap, should you have anyone navigating on the sea of
life; carried about by the storm of confusion, hopelessness? Should
you meet anyone that craves to live a fulfilling life? Should you
meet someone like me! Don't hesitate to tell him or her that
Mentoring is the answer"
According to Linda Yabrifa, AfriGrowth Foundations' programme
officer "I can boldly say that Mentoring has come to stay in
Nigeria and it is the only vehicle that can bridge the gap between
the older generation and the youth- to becoming solutions to
problems in the Nigerian Society"
The one day seminar is one in a series of activities carried out by
the Foundation in order to fulfill its objectives of enhancing
growth in needy communities by initiating and supporting programs
which promotes self sufficiency.
